Education
As hedgehogs are now classed as being venerable to extinction, the best way to help is through educating children and adults from nursery right through to the elderly.
Children are our best audience for sharing the information, interesting facts and knowledge we have learnt.
It is not possible to take a live hedgehog to a classroom without a special license. We would also not do this as they are nocturnal. They would only be in our care due to rescue circumstances. They should never be a pet… We release all our hedgehogs when they are healthy and ready to go back into the wild.
Rose gives an informative, interesting talk relating it to her display board. This includes hedgehogs, hoglets and the dangers surrounding them (fire, plastic, littering etc) Ending with open questions which she warmly welcomes.
We also bring along a large banner with very clear pictures of hedgehogs and babies. She can adjust the amount of information given relevant to age, class and year.
If Rose has not been to your school within a 20-mile radius of Newtown, then please contact us. She would love to share her passion for hedgehogs with you!
We now have wheelchair access to our hibernation shed in the garden. A covered pergola with tables, and can accommodate a small group for a teaching session, following all covid rules.
We are not open to the public, but at quiet times of the year, can offer an educational session involving a small group group of School / College individuals. We have a space in the garden next to our Hibernation Shed which is under cover and has table and chairs.
Schools, Colleges, Scouts, Girl Guides, Play Groups, Youth Groups, WI, Any type of group that Rose can visit, or even one-to-one at home.
Thank you - Look forward in hearing from you.
